LOTUS BLOSSOMS

All Lotus Hope wants is to love and one day marry her university sweetheart who just so happens to be straight and the captain of the university’s women’s varsity basketball team who she has befriended. Instead Lotus is exposed to almost daily beatings and threats against her life from members of the basketball team who feel Lotus is attempting to turn their beloved team captain, Abbey Anderson, into being gay. Even as Lotus and Abbey fight to overcome the basketball team’s ingrained homophobic hatred for all homosexuals in order to sustain their new found friendship, they can’t prevent succumbing to a strong physical attraction and falling in love with each other. As each daily threat against Lotus becomes more deadly, Abbey is forced deeper and deeper into the closet only for them to realize they might not live long enough to realize a future together.
